The B-2 Spirit, the famous US stealth bomber

The B-2 Spirit, the famous US stealth bomber, had part of its aerodynamic design inspired by the peregrine falcon, the fastest bird in the world. Engineers observed the way the falcon dives at high speed with minimal air resistance and applied similar concepts to the B-2’s structure, especially in the shape of its wings and the fluidity of its lines. This inspiration from nature helped improve its stability, efficiency and stealth. It is a clear example of how engineering often turns to the animal world to create advanced technologies.
